Fairlie Yacht Club
Opening Muster
2 May 2015
Fairlie Yacht clubs Opening Muster to Holy Loch was on 2 May with 15 yachts taking part. The first of the clubs Borders Biscuits Passage Race Series saw 2 boats in Class Two and 8 in class 4. The race starting from the Fairlie Yacht Club marks off Kip Marina had the fleet heading across the Clyde before passing the Cloch and over to the Kilcreggan shore. By this time, as forecast, the wind was blowing 30 knots from the east and the beat along the shore was testing for the crews. The windward mark was off the Sugar Boat and the last leg, down wind to Holy Loch, was welcomed by all.
Holy Loch Sailing Club held their first racing of the season and the competion in the Piper Fleet was fierce in really testing conditions, watched by the Fairlie Crews from the safety of the Marina.
In the evening the muster ashore was held in the Holy Loch Sailing Club’s club house with around 100 members from both clubs catching up with old friends and making new ones whilst enjoying the most amazing curry. Great thanks goes to Bill Atchison and the HLSC Committee for their outstanding hospitality and for making the evening such a success.
Next Race and Muster for Fairlie is on the 30th May to Port Bannatyne and the clubs annual Petanque championships at the Port Bannatyne Petanque Club.
