Port Bannatyne Muster

Saturday 30 May 2015

With 20 boats taking part overall this was a really good gathering. With the weather being as poor as it had been, a number of members held off until the last minute to see what the weekend would bring. As it turned out the weather on the Saturday was as good as it gets for racing and 11 boats took part in the Borders Biscuits Passage Race Series with two boats in class 2 and nine in class 4.  With Calima winning the spinnaker class and Breagha winning the white sail.

The muster ashore was held at the Port Bannatyne Petanque Club and the annual Petanque Championship was won for the second year in row by Sea-Quin. Gael Force marine kindly supplied their “portable gazebo” which as it turned out was very welcome as it provided shelter from the drizzle towards the end of the evening.

Several boats headed back late in the evening to avoid the bad weather which was forecast for the Sunday morning. All in all it was a very enjoyable evening and a warm thanks to the sponsors Border Biscuits, Port Bannatyne Petanque Club for the use of their equipment and pistes, and Gael Force Marine for the gazebo.
